Natural History Treks

Natural History of Kings Canyon
Date: Saturday - Sunday, June 7 - 8, 2008
Instructor: Jim Warner
Price: $86 (member price $75)

“A rival of Yosemite” is what John Muir called Kings Canyon.  The Kings River Canyon is more spectacular in many people’s minds than the Merced River canyon leading into its northern rival.  Participants will discover what makes this canyon so spectacular as they walk across the canyon and along a few trails, culminating in a drive down the river canyon, examining the weather, flora, fauna and geology along these routes.

This seminar will require participants to be sufficiently fit to hike up to 5 miles a day over steep, rocky, and uneven terrain, carrying a day pack. Participants will provide their own lodging or camping.  Campgrounds in Cedar Grove are first-come, first served, and early Friday arrival is recommended.
Age range: 12 and up.
Difficulty level:  Easy to moderate.

Note: By registering for a Sequoia Field Institute program, you acknowledge having read and accepted the Release and Waiver of Liability Form. Please note any comments in the "Comment/Suggestions" box when checking out.  Once we receive your payment, a confirmation and detailed itinerary will be mailed to you.
