the Kaweah

Have you ever wondered what happens to the Kaweah River after it leaves Sequoia National Park?  Join this day-long exploration of the western half of the Kaweah River system.  We’ll start at Ash Mountain and form a car caravan to trace the river westward into the San Joaquin Valley.  We’ll visit the Kaweah Delta country, visit remaining islands of natural habitat, and search for remnants of Tulare Lake.  Along the way we’ll weave together stories about the river’s geography, geology, and history.
Age range: 12 and up.
